I've been thinking of rebranding Horizon for a while but everything I've come up with has never really stuck. Even the logo that we currently use has always been "fine", but never really fit the vibe I want this project to convey.

Campsite and other parts of it's branding was easy to come up with and piece together as it all relates to something that we actually do at a "campsite". Communication, socialising, sharing stories, etc are all part of camping so it made so much sense to brand an app about communication as "Campsite".

I was thinking about Campsite and how I could link the branding to Horizon, then it hit me. Sometimes you're alone on Campsite. It's late, all your friends are asleep but you can't. I can picture myself staring up at the stars in the night sky, perhaps with some headphones on, just taking in the view, living in the moment and enjoying the vibes. Then it hit me, what about using a space theme?

Pulsar

A neutron star (the dense remnant of a collapsed massive star) that emits beams of electromagnetic radiation. As the pulsar rotates, these beams sweep across space like a cosmic lighthouse, creating a regular, rhythmic pulse when detected from Earth.

To me, this screams music and I think this is a great fit for the new name of this project.

Thoughts?

In nord-studio/horizon#83, I gave our new clients some codenames that also use a "space" theme.

I really like this name, I have purchased usepulsar.app as a domain we can use for the landing and docs site.

Sounds good to me! Looks like we’ve got ourselves a new name!
